Welcome to the website of the Coroners Society of England and Wales.

Full access to the site is limited to members of the Society who are Coronial Office holders in England and Wales. Corresponding membership is available to judicial office holders who hold equivalent positions elsewhere around the world.

There are some links above which give general information about the office and role HM Coroners.

Unlike the many of the systems of Courts under HM Courts Service there is not one Coroners jurisdiction. There are many separate and distinct coroners’ jurisdictions in England and Wales. Each jurisdiction is locally funded and resourced by local authorities. Not all jurisdictions have a dedicated court. Each jurisdiction has different staffing levels for administration and investigation. It is usual for the staff working with HM Coroner to be employed by the local authority and/or the Police Authority.

Given the varying infrastructures in which HM Coroners work it is left to each jurisdiction to update the contact details accessible below.
